1. Write a Good Query Letter
Editors want to ensure that a particular topic or subject matter meets their current needs list before assigning or accepting an article. Several online magazines and publications accept articles “on spec.” On the other hand, quite a few online publications prefer a detailed query letter that outlines your idea and provides information on sources and article direction. Good query letters are less than two paragraphs and should “hook” the editor.
