Let’s look at the difference between dental discount health plans and traditional dental health insurance. Dental insurance is not what it used to be 20 or 30 years ago. Premiums are now higher than ever for a decent policy and the traditional waiting periods that everyone must incur before they can be seen for any major problems make it almost not worth while. Basically, the insurance agent tells me that my premiums are going to be $50-$100 a month, I can see a dentist for a discount in the mean time for preventive maintenance items such as cleanings, x-rays, fluoride treatments, etc., however, my root canal will have to wait a year, and even then it won’t be covered 100%.

Dental assistants are required to help the dentist in various kinds of tasks like taking care of patients, official tasks and laboratory jobs. However, they are forbidden to perform the licensed tasks performed by the dental hygienists. Dental assistants help the dentists in their work. Their work is to make the patients comfortable during the treatment and organize their dental reports and records.
Dental Assistants stand along with the dentist and help him during the treatments by handing him the required tools and equipments. They are required to thoroughly clean the instruments and equipments, assemble the instruments on tray for the treatments and advise the patients regarding the precautions to be taken after the dental treatment.

The truth is that it has just become too expensive for many employers, especially those with small businesses, to continue providing this benefit to their workers. This has driven many people into the private market for both health and dental care, and many people are shocked at what they’re finding available. As a matter of fact, there are many families that now must take the risk of going without dental care at all, because paying the premiums for health insurance out of pocket now is all that they can handle.

Plaque and it’s bigger and more toxic cousin tartar, infections (both gum and tooth), gingivitis and oral thrush are all likely culprits if you have a problem in your mouth. Whilst many dental health problems can be prevented by regular brushing and flossing, some may require more specific treatment by your dental professional.
