Do 100 Armbars In 5 Minutes Or Lose Your Legs!

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

A funny thing happened to me this morning. I was getting my car checked out by my mechanic for a business trip and I was thinking about all the things I had left to do in preparation for the trip, including my Wise Grappler business. As I sat there thinking about all the things I had to do and not enough time to do them, I considered canceling my business trip because that would’ve given me all the time I needed…or would it?

Tips For Mental Soccer Training

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

It’s common knowledge that soccer is just as much a mental game as it is a physical game. Even if players have the best grasp of fundamentals and the best soccer training, it’s worth nothing if they crack under pressure, or if they have mental, emotional and lifestyle issues outside of soccer that mess with their head in-game.

Bouncing back from a poor performance or handling negative emotions is something that comes from having your head on right, not just practicing drills up and down the field. If you want to get ahead of the game, you should spend as much time training your mind as you do your body.

Basic Hearing Protection For Shooters

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

Appropriate hearing protection is a must for hunters and shooters of all ages, although it’s normally the last thing on a shooter or hunter’s mind. I know from experience because I use to think the same way, until I discovered some early onset hearing loss in my early thirties. Being that most of the early hearing loss was in my left ear and I shoot right handed; much of the loss can most likely be attributed to all the hunting and shooting I did as a child and teenager without the use of suitable hearing protection. That served as a wake-up call for me, so now I go to great lengths to assure that my hearing is appropriately protected when I shoot or hunt.

3 Realities About Golf Swing Instruction

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

I am just like you an amateur weekend golfer who would love to be able to get out and play 18 every day, but settles for the weekend and sometimes afternoon weekday round. I struggled for 7 years shooting in the mid to high nineties, and the odd time over a hundred. I hit bucket after bucket of balls at the driving range, never understanding why I couldn’t duplicate my performance at the range on the course. It wasn’t until I got serious about my golf game and sought out some golf swing instruction that I really began to improve my consistency and my scores.

Nascar Pocono 500 Recap 2007

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

After a 3 hour rain delay Ryan Newman finally led the field to the green flag and the start of the Pocono 500. Newman was on the pole for the third straight week and was 7th fastest in happy hour. Forty two other drivers took a shot at breaking Denny Hamlin’s Pocono dominance as he had won both races last year at the track. But, Hamlin had already a lot to say about it as he pulled passed Newman and led the first lap. As laps started to roll Tony Stewart joined Hamlin at the front and they began to distance themselves from the rest of the field.

Nascar A Scam?
By Jerry Lemke

Have you noticed a trend in Nascar lately? Seems that the higher the sponsorship dollars, the better the tendency for that team to win. Don’t be fooled, nascar IS a business and IS focused on sponsorship, not racing. Maybe racing’s equivalent to wrestling’s ”for entertainment purposes only” motto applies here, as some teams seem to have large advantages. It would then make sense to keep all of your sponsors happy with an equalized amount of airtime so that everyone important enough is happy. Nascar works hard to “equalize” the playing field.

Choosing Scuba Diving Fins

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

Split Fins Probably the biggest choice you have to make is whether to go for a solid fin design such as the Mares Avanti Quattro fins, or a split fin such as the Tusa X-Pert Zoom fins.

The idea behind split fins is that they make it easier to fin underwater - they do this by having a less rigid body which obviously offers less resistance to the water. This does usually mean less raw power although the increased efficiency (less effort) can make up for this. Also unless you happen to dive in conditions where you have to fight a current often, this isn’t really an issue.
