Stop The Presses - Celebrities We Are Completely Sick Of Hearing About

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

From CNN to the Enquirer, from Larry King to Barbra Walters, celebrities are in the news constantly. This is intriguing, to a point, but it often changes from intriguing to just annoying. This is particularly true when it comes to certain celebrities, celebrities that are shoved down our throats whenever our mouths are even slightly open. The following is a list of some of the celebrities who are always in the news, even when they shouldn’t be.

Escaping The Prison

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

I am bombarded by the sound bites of Wisdom. People forever email me the Dalai Lama’s rules for living; I get a daily quote of the day by email, another from the bridge column I read (the Bridge Column!!). Wise words surround me. They don’t register, of course. They make no difference, but I feel better for having read them and having sagely judged them as either amusing or wise and worth reading.

I think this as I discover one from a most unlikely source. My favorite author is Donald Westlake, master of the comic novel, master of the caper, master of capturing voice in print. I was re-reading Kahawa, an extraordinary novel of Uganda under Idi Amin, and I read this:

Top Family-friendly Halloween Movies

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

Having an annual Halloween Movie Night for your family is a great way to celebrate the season together and to create memories that will last for years to come.

Although it would seem that blood and gore should be the central theme of a Halloween movie, try some of these all-family favorite flicks instead.

“It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” – Not much needs to be said about this movie. It’s a family classic and will be for years and years to come. Purchase the DVD and keep it in your family’s special movie collection.

Learning Spanish - Financing Your Spanish Education

Friday, April 11th, 2008

A couple of years ago, an American lady came to Guanajuato to learn Spanish. She enrolled in one of the most expensive schools in town. This school is good, by the way, and I always recommend it to people who want to come study Spanish in Guanajuato. This poor woman was a rank beginner. When she arrived, she was put in a class commensurate with her level; only the class was in the middle of the beginning class cycle.

How To Prevent Infection & Conduct Effective Aftercare For New Tattoos

Saturday, April 5th, 2008

There are practical steps which should be undertaken to ensure good hygiene and healing of newly tattooed skin. I have seen the effects of poor caring and unclean practices. It simply ruins the tattoo and bodily infection in itself has many health implications. Take practical tattoo aftercare steps or you potentially will wear the signs of mistreatment alongside your tattoo design.

Washing

Using antibacterial soap with water, gently wash the tattooed area with your hands, do not use a cloth as this can easily disturb the area and delay proper healing. Under normal conditions the above should be done at least 3 times a day, more if the area has been subjected to excessive sweat or dirt of any kind.

Small Tattoos, Big Appeal

Thursday, April 3rd, 2008

Small tattoos can have big appeal for a variety or reasons. They are a great way for first-timers to find out what tattooing is all about; they are ideal for masking an unattractive blemish or scar; they can usually be completed in under an hour; and, because they are easily hidden, they are perfect for those work for anti-tattoo employers.

Small tattoos can give those with a rebellious streak an opportunity to express their individuality. Many professional women have the smalls of their backs decorated with small tattoos which are only visible when they are out enjoying some night life. Others have small tattoos on their wrists, where they can be hidden by a watch or bracelet during the day.

Coffee Prince

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

Coffee Prince is a light hearted Korean drama which is really popular in Asia after its airing. So what exactly made Coffee Prince a big hit in Asia? The cast, the characters, the really sweet lovey dovey moments between Han Kyul and Eun Chan and also the backgroud music which really suits the various scenes and bring out the mood of the scene contributed to the success of the drama. In most dramas, we often see the conflicts between a couple but the sweet moments of a couple during their dating periods is often not covered. However in Coffee Prince, we get to see the dating process of Han Kyul and Eun Chan and how their relationship grew and developed over time. It reflects the tiny but significant problems and situations which may be faced by many couples in real life and this made it easy for the audience to be connected to the show.

Second Hand Car Warranties

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

One of the worries about buying a second hand car is often about how reliable the vehicle will be. Second hand car warranties can provide a good way of putting your mind at rest.

You’re probably aware of the existence of car warranties, but many UK car owners seem surprised to learn that it’s possible to take out a car warranty on a used car.

Indeed, independent car warranty companies have increasingly been looking to sell policies direct to the owners of used cars.

The Meaning Of Myths

Monday, March 24th, 2008

Myths or mythos for the ancient Greeks was an allegoric vehicle to awaken the soul from its forgetful past for those who were spiritual and sensitive enough to recognise the veiled truth behind it. The Greek word μύθος= myth, derives from the sound ‘mou’=murmur, which we produce when our lips are closed and the word Μυστήριο= mystery= inexplicable, adjoins with it. Together they form a secret communicating organ for every soul who is ready to recollect the forgotten experience from their previous incarnations.

God Of Contradictions

Friday, March 21st, 2008

Birth of the God and its early childhood:

Learned ones say that in the early years of his birth, the man needed an answer to all the mystic questions posed by the nature. Wherever he had no reason he invented a super-reason. He called this super reason - the God.

Subsequently this concept of God was coupled with the life, norms of life, moral conduct, social values, rituals and performances. As the consciousness of man developed and he evolved a systematic study of surroundings his this super reason and the mysticism around it started being questioned. The super reason and all related mysticism were then known as religion and this systematic study of surroundings is known as science. The friction between the religion and the science has been the essential part of the human history of civilization.
